RESPIRATORY HERBAL TEA

Most of the energy which the cells in our body require is derived from chemical reactions which can only take place in the presence of oxygen. The main waste product of these reactions is Carbon dioxide. It is the Respiratory System which provides the route by which Oxygen present in atmospheric air can enter the body and bind to Haemoglobin. It also provides the route whereby Carbon dioxide is excreted. The Respiratory System is also responsible for the regulation of the acidity (pH) of the body.

The condition of air which enters our body is extremely variable; it may be dry or damp, cold or hot and may contain dust particles. As air moves in through the air passages to reach the lungs, it is modified, warmed or cooled to body temperature, moistened to become saturated with water vapour and cleaned to remove dust particles.

Blood provides the transport mechanism for gases between the lungs and cells of the body and it is the responsibility of the Circulatory System to move blood to all parts of the body.

Diseases of the Respiratory System are very common. Viruses and bacteria are frequent invaders of our bodies even if one is relatively fit and healthy. As well as this, the damage to the lungs caused by cigarette smoking is seen in many who persist with this self-destructing habit. Sadly, lung cancer remains one of the more significant causes of death in the Western world.

The best way to live is to keep on breathing!
